چکیده
Anaerobic digestion (AD) appears to be a popular unit operation in wastewater treatment plant treat waste activated sludge (WAS) and the produced methane gas can harvested as renewable energy. However, WAS could inhibit hydrolysis stage during AD hence pre-treatment is required overcome issue. This paper aimed study effect of electrochemical (EP) towards efficiency using titanium coated with ruthenium oxide (Ti/RuO2) electrodes. The investigation has been carried out in-house laboratory batch-scale mesophilic anaerobic digester, mixed under manipulation important operating parameters. Optimization was performed on EP response surface methodology central composite design maximize disintegration dewaterability. By at optimal conditions (pH 11.65, total solids 22,000 mg/L, electrolysis time 35 min, current density 6 mA/cm2, 1000 mg/L sodium chloride), pre-treated terms liquor volatile suspended (MLVSS) removal, soluble chemical oxygen demand (sCOD), capillary suction (CST) reduction, extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) were 38%, 4800 (increased from 935 mg/L), 33%, 218 respectively. Following AD, (VS) removal (COD) by enhanced 40.7% 54.7% 47.2% 61.5%, respectively, steady-state. biogas control ranges 0.12 0.17 0.2 0.24 m3/kg VSfed, volume 44–67% over control. Based results obtained, suitability for prior confirmed.

Effect of Sludge Pre-Treatment Techniques on the Biogas Production from Waste Activated Sludge
Introduction There is a significant and inevitable fact in Turkey which is the “sludge problem” generated from the wastewater treatment plants. There are many sludge disposal techniques currently applied in Turkey such as incineration, landfilling, composting, etc.; but the disposal of sludge with those conventional methods is difficult and expensive, often requiring over 50 per cent of the ope...
متن کاملImprovement of Anaerobic Digestion of Sewage Sludge, Using Combined Hydrogen Peroxide and Thermal Pre-Treatment
The present study investigates the influence of individual and combined hydrogen peroxide and thermal pre-treatment of waste activated sludge on anaerobic digestion. For so doing, it employs anaerobic batch reactors in the mesophilic conditions. For comparison, soluble fractions of organic matter, biogas production, biochemical methane potential, removal of chemical oxygen demand (COD), and vol...

متن کاملOptimization of Anaerobic Digestion of Sewage Sludge Using Thermophilic Anaerobic Pre-Treatment
In this study, we investigated by running continuous stirred tank reactor the effects of different thermophilic temperatures (55, 60, 65, 70, 75 and 80C) for different hydraulic retention times (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 days, respectively) on the pretreatment of sewage sludge. We found that hydrolysis was mainly determined by temperature instead of hydraulic retention time, i.e. the high...
متن کامل2. Production of Biogas by Anaerobic Digestion
Anaerobic digestion is a natural process in which bacteria convert organic materials into biogas. It occurs in marshes and wetlands, and in the digestive tract of ruminants. The bacteria are also active in landfills where they are the principal process degrading landfilled food wastes and other biomass. Biogas can be collected and used as a potential energy resource. The process occurs in an an...
